I used the Olaplex No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 system for two months straight after getting my hair highlighted. At first, my hair felt strong, but by week six, I started experiencing terrifying amounts of hair shedding in the shower. My strands became dry, brittle, and felt like straw, snapping right off near the ends. My stylist told me to stop using it immediately because my hair was experiencing protein/bond overload.
OLAPLEX has been a lifesaver for my dry, damaged hair. After several uses, my hair felt softer and much easier to manage, especially on the ends where I had the most breakage. I also noticed that my hair looked healthier without feeling coated or weighed down. It’s become one of those products I keep coming back to when my hair needs extra care.

I have to unscrew the entire cap and shake the thick product out manually every time I shower, which is infuriating.

My hair isn’t super damaged, I just wanted to use OLAPLEX for a little extra strength and shine. My friend raves about it, so I bought the No. 3. I’ve used it a few times and while my hair does feel nice and soft afterward, I’m not seeing the huge, transformative results that others talk about. It feels similar to a high-end deep conditioning mask I already own. Maybe it’s because my hair wasn’t that damaged to begin with? It’s a good product, but for the price, I’m not sure it’s necessary for my hair type. It might be better for people who really need serious repair.
