The brand name is memorable, and I like the focus on different parts of a skincare routine. But I can never justify buying a product simply because the branding is fun. I’d want to know whether the cleanser or treatment I’m considering actually suits my skin type and whether the ingredients make sense for my concerns. It’s interesting, but I’d need to narrow down the options before spending anything.
I used to think cleanser was the least interesting part of skincare. You wash your face, rinse it off, done. But when a cleanser leaves your skin feeling tight, suddenly it becomes everybody’s business. HoliFrog appeals to me because it puts a little more thought into the cleansing step, with different formulas for different preferences and needs. I’d want something that removes sunscreen and everyday grime without leaving my face feeling stripped afterward. The downside is that specialty cleansers can cost more than basic options, and I’m not convinced every cleanser needs to be a luxury purchase. Still, finding one that feels comfortable makes a difference.
I found Holifrog during one of my “I’m going to become a person with a proper skincare routine” phases. 😂 The cleansers are probably my favorite because they feel like they’re actually doing something without leaving my face feeling tight afterward. I like that the products have a bit of personality too—skincare can get so boring sometimes. One product was a little too much for my skin when I used it too often, so I had to back off. Once I stopped trying to use everything at once, I enjoyed the brand much more.
I wanted to love the shasta aha refining acid wash, but the formula separates inside the tube constantly. Every time I open it, a liquid watery mess comes squirting out before the actual gel cleanser follows, making a total mess on my counter.
I bought this because I wanted something a little more interesting than my usual cleanser. The texture is lovely and my skin feels clean without that horrible tight feeling afterward. I’m still experimenting with which products from the line work best for me, but this was a good first impression.
