I used their defining gel for years, took a break during all the brand controversy, and recently tried their reformulated line. On the bright side, my 3b curls look bouncy, shiny, and clumped together without any crunchy texture. However, the product leaves noticeable buildup on my scalp if I don’t use a hardcore clarifying shampoo every week, and the price keeps going up while the bottle sizes seem to be shrinking.
My curls have moods. There is no other explanation. 😂 One day they look amazing and the next day they apparently have personal issues with me. DevaCurl has helped me get a more predictable routine, especially when I’m trying to keep my curls defined without making them feel crunchy. I like the way my hair looks when I use the products properly, although I definitely had to experiment with how much product my hair actually needs. Too much and everything gets heavy really quickly. I’ve also learned that what works for my hair on humid days isn’t necessarily what works when it’s cooler. Still figuring it out, but overall I’m happy with it.

Sadly my curls got weighed down and a little dull after trying several products. Not the results I expected.
The scent is pleasant and it doesn’t weigh down my hair. I deducted a bit because the price is higher than my usual, and shipping to the Philippines took a little while. But overall it’s among the best curl-care brands I’ve tried.
