The tinted gel cream is hydrating, but the classic loose powder foundation formula contains bismuth oxychloride, which triggers severe itching, flushing, and prickling sensations on my skin the second I sweat or warm up.
I’ve always liked the idea of makeup that doesn’t feel heavy on the face. Some days, a full-coverage look is fun, but other days I just want to look a little more awake without feeling like I’m wearing a mask. 😂 bareMinerals has that more natural-looking makeup appeal, and I can see why people who prefer lighter finishes might gravitate toward it. I’d still be picky about shades, though. Getting the wrong undertone is such a pain, especially when you’re shopping online.

I swear bareMinerals takes me straight back to my teenage years. 😂 I used to watch my mom put it on and thought she had some kind of magical makeup technique. I came back to the brand years later and was surprised by how much I still liked it. The makeup feels comfortable and gives me the kind of finish I want for everyday wear. I don’t need to look super made-up when I’m just running errands. It’s one of those brands I keep forgetting about, then rediscovering and going, “Wait… why did I stop using this?”
I like how lightweight bareMinerals makeup feels. The coverage looks natural and doesn’t give me that heavy foundation feeling. My only issue is staying power. After several hours, I usually need to touch up, especially around my nose and chin.
They changed the formulation of the complexion rescue tinted hydrator and ruined it. It used to be smooth and hydrating, but the new version separates immediately, looks patchy, and accentuates every single dry line on my face. Bring back the old formula.

Some of their newer launches, like the skincare line, didn’t impress me—they felt generic. I still reach for their brow gel and blushes occasionally, but they’re not must-haves for me anymore.
