Excellent for sensitive skin and redness concerns. The products feel soothing and never irritate my skin.
I bought the Avène cleanance cleansing gel for my oily skin, but it is way too stripping. It contains sodium laureth sulfate, which left my skin feeling like cardboard and completely squeaky clean, which any dermatologist will tell you is bad.
Avène products have been gentle on my sensitive skin and helped reduce redness after just a few uses. The texture is light and comfortable, although I wish the packaging was a bit more practical.
I bought the cleanance mattifying emulsion for my oily skin, but it leaves an incredibly frustrating white, chalky residue on my face that balls up into tiny white flakes when I try to rub it in. It doesn’t layer under makeup at all and leaves a strange, tight film over my skin rather than actually balancing oil production.
Avène has honestly been one of the best brands for my sensitive skin. Their thermal water spray and moisturizers helped calm redness and irritation without making my skin feel greasy or heavy afterward.

The Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream absolutely saved my irritated skin after I overdid actives. Zero glamour, all function.

But I found many of their formulas too basic over time. Cicalfate+ worked well post-treatment but didn’t wow me otherwise. A safe brand for sensitive skin—but not a transformative one.
