Algenist gives off a more science-focused, premium skincare impression, which is appealing when I’m looking for products beyond the basics. I would take my time comparing formulas and deciding which products address my actual concerns instead of buying an entire collection at once. The price point makes me a little cautious, but I can understand why someone who enjoys researching skincare would be interested in the brand.
Algenist caught my attention because I’m always curious about skincare brands that put a lot of emphasis on ingredient research. I tend to look for products that target specific concerns rather than buying something just because the packaging looks expensive. The challenge is figuring out whether a premium formula offers something I actually need, especially when there are so many serums and moisturizers on the market. I’d start with one product and give it a fair chance instead of changing my whole routine at once. The price does make me hesitate, but if a product fits my skin well and feels good to use consistently, I’d be more willing to consider repurchasing it.
I started Algenist because I was going through one of my “okay, I’m finally going to take skincare seriously” phases. 😂 I tried one of their serums first and really liked the texture — it absorbed nicely and didn’t leave that sticky layer I absolutely hate. After using it for a while, my skin looked a little smoother and more hydrated to me. I wouldn’t say it completely transformed my face, but I liked the overall effect. The only thing that makes me hesitate is the price. I have to really like a product before I spend that much on it, and unfortunately my skincare shelf is already judging me.
For a serum in this price bracket, I expected a refined texture. Instead, it left a thick, sticky film on my face that never fully absorbed. Within four days, I developed deep, painful cystic bumps along my chin and neck. Had to stop using it completely.

It’s not sticky like a lot of collagen serums either. I also tried the Complete Eye Renewal Balm, which didn’t do much for me—but that collagen serum? Legit.
So lightweight, yet so moisturizing.
